"Spirit" by Kwesta ft. Wale
South African rapper and songwriter, Kwesta, also known as DaKAR, released the music video of the new hit single “Spirit” early January 2018. He featured the Nigerian-born American rapper, Wale.
His debut studio album, “Special Rekwest”, gave him a grand welcome to the industry. In November 2013, he released his second album, DaKAR, which ranked third place in the South African iTunes hip-hop/rap chart. This album gained massive popularity and was well appreciated by his growing fan base.
In 2016, he released his third major album DaKAR II and released “Ngiyazifela Ngawe” in 2017 which now has over 3 million views on YouTube. “Ngud”, another hit single in which he featured fellow South African rapper, Cassper Nyovest has about 5 million views now.
“Spirit” currently has over 1.3 million views on YouTube and keeps gaining popularity among Kwesta’s fans. The video emphasizes the South African culture, what they’ve been through, and how they’ve triumphed.
Kwesta and Wale performed “Spirit” at the FillUP FnB Stadium where he got a great reception from his fans who were hailing and singing along with him.
He is expanding his brand by creating a platform, RapLyf, to help upcoming artists, guiding them while they keep their artistry. He is as well intent on not losing himself as he moves up the ladder of success. When asked about his plans, he mentioned that a lot of rappers write their songs from the heart at the beginning but later conform to what others expect of them. Kwesta promises not to do that. He tells his fans to expect his songs to feature the changes he keeps experiencing in his life.
Spirit is another hit single that proves him to be true. His fans just can’t stop loving him and his songs.
