Afrigora: An Online Marketplace Bolstering the Communities of African Designers
For devotees of vibrant colours and breathtaking fashion, nowhere comes close to the continent of Africa. But for decades Africa has been a hidden gem, with just a small number of specialist connoisseurs realizing its full potential as a paradise for fashion and design.
But that is beginning to change. With African fashion and culture gaining popularity in mainstream media and entertainment, in movies like Black Panther, there’s a new and greater demand for fashion from the vibrant continent.
A new online marketplace that will uniquely specialize in the very best Africa has to offer, is set to launch to give you direct access to these exclusive designs. Afrigora is the brainchild of 2 female founders Lillian Spio and Alicia Wood, who aim to build a platform that propels the businesses of African designers both on the continent of Africa and around the world. Lillian told Demand Africa, “As a shopper of African fashion and design, I saw a huge opportunity to elevate the perceptions of African designers and African businesses. I wanted to help expand the awareness of the many designers I had come across who are creating extraordinary pieces and are trying to bolster the communities they live in.”
Afrigora is planning to launch late July, promising a safe and simple way to buy and sell African designs. “We will only highlight the very best in African fashion, home decor and more, making it much easier for shoppers to find items they’ll love,” said Lillian.
By removing barriers to selling and buying African fashion, Afrigora plans to become a distinguished leader in the African design marketplace industry and a positive new mover and shaker in the African design industry.
“We’ll be using the latest tools and technology to change the way people buy and sell African fashion and ultimately help these African businesses succeed in the global retail market” Alicia said.
About Afrigora
