Ghana: 5 Events You Can't Afford to Miss During The Year Of The Return

Ghana is quickly gaining a reputation as a hot spot to visit in December, and this year is particularly special. This December, Ghana is hosting The Year of the Return, a major landmark campaign inviting the entire African diaspora back home after 400 years since the arrival of the first enslaved Africans arriving in the United States, and the country is commemorating the occaison in a major way. 

Countless events have been curated for Year of the Return, and we have selected a few December events that are worth visiting the country to attend.

Afrochella

Day: December 28

Venue: El Wak Stadium

Afrochella is a day-long festival hosted in the heart of Accra that promises performances from some of the continent’s hottest stars. Be prepared to experience all the headliners from noon until dusk and don’t forget to attend some of the side events and after parties that take place all throughout the weekend.

Pine x Ginja

Visit Pine x Ginga for wicked vibes and reggae soul with an island flair. The “Bashment Edition” promises to infuse Ghanaian and Jamaican culture, using song and dance to turn up the heat and will feature one of Jamaica’s hottest DJs spinning the most exclusive reggae tunes.
